The Green Seed and Shaheed & Supreme start off the second half of a busy year opening for Stalley at The Bottletree on July 1st.
STALLEY, an Emcee hailing from Massillon, Ohio, who is sometimes referred to as “the Bruce Springsteen of rap,” gives voice to his blue collar working class roots in his edgy, heartfelt rhymes. He has toured with Mos Def and worked on releases with Rick Ross, Ohio DJ Terry Urban, media collective Creative Control, Curren$y, Wiz Khalifa, Kool Kids and Dame, to name a few. He continues to gain national notoriety after the releases of several mixtapes in 2008 and 2009, and his latest project Lincoln Way Nights, released on the Indie label Intelligent Trunk Music.
SPIN magazine listed Stalley as one of five best new artists in April 2011. BREAKING OUT: STALLEY from the June 2011 issue of SPIN details how Stalley came to be a part of Mos Def’s super group Center Edge Territory.
Lincoln Way Nights is available for free download on bandcamp.
THE GREEN SEED, listed at position #6 in Oxford American’s 2011 list of Top Contemporary Alabama Artists, craft their tracks out of obscure samples and dense, thoughtful lyrics and strive to change the landscape of Southern rap by keeping the core elements of hip-hop intact. MCs R-tist and Complet along with DJ FX dropped their first release in 2007 and haven’t stopped since, releasing a continuous stream of group and solo albums. Performing regularly in Birmingham and regionally, The Green Seed have performed with G-side, Das Racist, Raekwon and Akil The One [from Jurassic 5]. They put on a solid, unrepentantly energetic show – you won’t want to miss this. check out THE GREEN SEED on Facebook and in our artist and video pages.
SHAHEED – The Scholar Warrior MC – drops thought-provoking rhymes over Supreme’s flawless, soulful production. With a direct, impeccable flow, Shaheed lays out rhymes that define his life and his beliefs in a way that promote positivity without the negative trappings of a “holier than thou” attitude. Shaheed and Supreme teamed up in 2007 and released “Health Wealth and Knowledge of Self.” In 2010 they released their follow-up, “The Scholar Warrior Remix Album.” Both of these albums represent the four elements of hip hop and push a positive message of social consciousness. Shaheed has been performing for over 16 years and has shared the stage with artists such as Amir Sulaiman, Shariff Simmons, Ishues, Raekwon and Akil The One [from Jurassic 5]. check out SHAHEED on Facebook and in our artist and video pages.
