J-Dilla, although short lived, single-handedly changed the face and character of Hip Hop with his innovative, soulful production and unending press for pure beats.
Once again, it is time to honor the life and music of James “J-Dilla” Yancey. J-Dilla, although short lived, single-handedly changed the face and character of Hip Hop with his innovative, soulful production and unending press for pure beats. In deference to this contribution, Dilla-Day is a time when deejays and producers come together and program an entire night’s music from his extensive catalog to celebrate the beats and share them with friends, fans and Hip Hop heads alike. This is an event we feel very strongly about, and so LOBOTOMIX, is once again honored to partner with BAMALOVESOUL to promote and host DILLA-DAY.
In recognition of the role that Lupus played in the death of J-Dilla, and the fact that it affects 1.5 million Americans yearly, proceeds from the event will be donated to the Lupus Foundation of America to effect change in the lives of the 5 million people affected worldwide. Come celebrate this life and music and serve your community by contributing to the well-being of our friends and neighbors.
Dilla Day 2012 will take place at Plum (108 17th Street N) in downtown Birmingham. Music will start at 7PM, 5 DJs will play music that was produced and performed by J Dilla for the entire night. A minimum donation of $5 will be required to enter.
